Ubuntu won't start after installation?

I installed ubuntu, after selecting the OS in grub, just a black screen appears and that's it.
Installation went smoothly, no errors.
The same thing happens when trying to boot Windows
. Nothing appears on the screen, no errors.

Typical Ubuntu.
Boot from the LiveCD and install the bootloader again, this should help. The exact procedure is easy to find on Google.
