Ubuntu problems on Toshiba u500-10m laptop
Hello. I think the question is relevant only for owners of Toshiba laptops.
I have long wanted to switch to Ubuntu, and when I finally got around to it, I ran into a number of upsetting and repulsive problems. The first thing that caught my eye was that the coolers do not work on the laptop under ubuntu. Googling it turned out that the problem is not mine alone, but also that in addition to this problem there are problems with bluetooth, hibernation and a number of smaller ones.
I am very, very superficially familiar with Linux, so I could not find solutions to problems. Hope only for your help. Thank you.

I am not the owner of this laptop, so everything that is written below is just what I managed to google. Everything is done at peril and risk, but much worse than idle cooling =) so for cooling:
1. Open the terminal (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal).
2. Type in the terminal:
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
3. Find the line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
4. Replace it with the line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi.power_nocheck=1"
5. Save.
6. Run two commands in the terminal:
sudo update-grub
sudo reboot
After the reboot, the fans should work. This solution has been quoted in several different sources.
