Ubuntu, ffmpeg, libfaac?
Available: Ubuntu 11.04
Task: install ffmpeg with libx264 and libfaac encoders.
I tried to install from repositories, I tried to build from sources, I tried the sources of the latest versions, I tried already a dozen different instructions. Everything leads to one thing: ffmpeg does not see libfaac. And earlier everything was installed and working, but, apparently, after some update it broke.
Please tell me a working way to install such a bundle. Needed to convert video to mp4 (libx264 + libfaac).

Strange, everything works for me, though only when building from source. Was the --enable-libfaac flag specified when competing the package?
I had this on 10.04 when I connected some ppa, an updated ffmpeg arrived there and selectively something broke, libx264 was included in this something. Delete the extra ppa that connected the last time, purge ffmpeg and install again
If you built the latest version of git, then nothing surprising. Every once in a while, something falls off. This is due to the fact that most of the developers left to build their own amusement park with blackjack and whores - Libav. FFmpeg, on the other hand, merges their code and periodically breaks in this way.
I recommend switching to avconv. If you need ffmpeg, then compile an earlier version of git. A working installation method is described, for example, here HOWTO: Install and use the latest FFmpeg and x264 .
