Ubuntu: colored notification icon

Ubuntu. Gnome.
I use monochrome icons (Faenza-Dark), the notification panel looks like this:

When a message arrives in ICQ / Jabber / Twitter, the letter icon turns white from gray. Is it possible to make this icon more visible? for example, green, like here:

I suspect that there is a png file somewhere. Attempts to find were successful, but changing the icon did not lead to anything.
PS In Natty , something is stirred up about these icons, it's unclear what (and when) they will come to.

Look in /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-light/status/*/indicator-messages*.svg
I think they are :)
