Noise from the microphone - a defect or a feature?

I bought a Behringer C-1 microphone, I connect it via XLR via an external USB sound card M-Audio Air 192|4.
There is noise when I approach the extension cord (it seems to be grounded, at least there are corresponding contacts). I have a Behringer C-1U microphone (USB version of the same microphone) and it does not emit sound from the same extension cable.
Microphone problem? Is it possible to return under warranty in this case and is it necessary at all?

Can. You can also record the noise just in case.
