Two passwords for the zip archive. Is it possible to?

Good afternoon.
It so happened that it was necessary to guess the password to the archive. The password turned out to be eight-character, and with grief in half, not without the help of a pack of video cards, I picked it up, but inside there was disappointment.
The desired text was with a broken encoding, and was not decoded by any means. I was already desperate to pull out the information, but the person told me the password from the archive. Another.
And he came up, and the data inside was read without problems, which drove me into a stupor, and the information from the archive had already faded into the background.
I always thought that there can be only one password, and it is calculated by hash
. Actually, the question is: how to be and what to do? Vsmysle to repeat. Bug or feature?

@rechmp

How is the correctness of the password checked?
An attempt to unpack the file and verify the checksum.
It is likely that you can pick up a few more passwords that will give the output a file with the same checksum, but different content.
