Twitter API.....?

Hello,
Let's say I want to write a bot that will post something on twitter. Do you need to create an application for this? twitter.com/apps/new
After creating, I get the keys for the API. Now with the help of them I can log in and post on behalf of the application?
I think I'm misunderstanding something, please explain.

understood everything correctly. download the TwitterAPI class, substitute your registration data there and post from the registered application
