Transferring a host from an internal network from Active Direcory to VPS, what could be the problems?

Hello.
The organization has an Active directory, everyone works under domain accounts. There is Exchange, Sharepoint, several self-written web services. Everything is in the domain, on the same network.
There are plans to migrate Sharepoint from its DB to VPS.
Do I understand correctly that this virtual machine will need to be connected via VPN to the organization's internal network so that it can communicate with the domain controller?
What other problems will have to be solved with such a transfer?

Yes everything is correct.

It is worth thinking about reserving a channel to the Internet (if it does not already exist) and automatically reconnecting the VPN so that when the Internet drops, access to Sharepoint does not disappear.

Sharepoint is not a cheap thing, I would calculate how much a VPS with such resources will cost you and compare prices with Microsoft O365, where there are the same Sharepoint and Exchange, it may be cheaper.
According to the subject, the problem is global one: No Internet - no work. + If you have a lot of calls to the database, you will need to connect a good Internet channel (and as you noticed, you need a reserve). Probably VPN can not be used if you have a white IP and you want to forward ports to the outside.
