Topics for graduation projects?
Hello Habrites!
I teach at the Department of IT and every year I have to offer graduating groups an approximate topic for graduation projects. About 10 topics from the teacher, and the topics should not be repeated for at least 2 years.
Specialties:
— Applied Informatics in Economics;
— Programming in computer systems.
For several years of work, a difficulty arose with the generation of unique topics that, I would like, were also relevant.
I mainly offer topics that require the design and development of web/GUI applications/IS that interact with the database (C++/Qt/Python/Django/MySQL).
How can this impasse be dealt with?

You can get out of an impasse very simply: you need to stop inventing topics, and start doing real projects. Or help existing ones (there are a huge number of projects in Open Source that do not have enough hands).
I have just the opposite problem - there are a lot of topics for diplomas / interns and there is no one to give.
In my opinion, it is wrong to give a topic based on the tool (C++/Qt/Python/Django/MySQL), it is better to start from the subject. especially in the economy of tasks requiring automation, an unplowed field.
As a starting point, try looking at the trendy Lean, Kanban, 6 Sigma, and more. So many things can be transferred to computers.
I don’t know how much the economy is ...
1) The merchandiser support system (smartphone with GPS + database + geolocation, etc.), is an urgent problem.
2) Bot for trading on stock exchanges
Tell us what subject area your students are focused on. If necessary, I can give quite real problems on the topic of IT in mobile communications.
Well, let's say the urgent problem has now arisen - the synchronization of data and the structure of the mysql database. All existing projects are abandoned.
In general, we grab sourceforge and select projects that have not been updated for 5-10 years
We need specifics. If everything is quite clear with applied informatics in economics, besides the database, in fact, it is difficult to offer something, then with programming in a computer. systems, not really. My specialty at the university is “Information Technology and Telecommunications”. I will do a diploma either based on Russian-made hardware (tests, firewood), or according to the current term paper - a security system for a summer residence based on a microcontroller. On our stream from the database, you won’t get more “good” for a diploma. More welcome "work with output", as we call it :)
