We've had an unfortunate misunderstanding.
There was a domain, but in the contacts of the registrar there was a decree with an incorrect contact address, and therefore all letters with notifications went to nothing.
We found that the site was not available for 2 days, contacted technical support, they shrug it off - they say wait until the domain is completely removed, and then redeem it. After 5 days it will be completely free.

Depends on the registrar - may or may not be. You need to communicate with the registrar. If the domain is short, beautiful and promoted, various bots can still spin around the registrar, profiting from this ...
