The quality of communication in the local network - what software can be measured?

Colleagues, tell me, what, besides ping, can I use to get a picture of the quality of communication between two hosts on a local network? I want to understand how traffic behaves.
Ping gives the following result: there is no loss, but sometimes answers with a time of 50-70-100-150 ms get into a smooth stream of responses in <1ms. Moreover, then on one host, then on another, then simultaneously on both.
There are no loads on the network and on the hosts.
The switching scheme is as follows: [physical host] - [ [access port vlan401]_switch_[trunk] ] - [hyper-v virtual network] - [virtual host with a network card on vlan401]
UPD: Thanks to everyone who responded. The problem was solved without traffic analysis (hands did not reach): it was necessary in the device manager in the properties of the network card of the hypervisor itself to transfer the "Virtual machine queues" parameter to "Off". After that, the ping is exceptionally less than 1 ms. How glad I am, how glad I am...
