The most convenient admin interface?

There is a large site with categories and subcategories that contain a lot of pages. What admin interface is considered the most convenient for this kind of project?
The standard solution is a tabular form of page presentation, but this is not very convenient for searching for a specific article. I tried to implement a tree on jQuery (I don’t know ExtJS), but when there are a lot of pages, it’s not at all convenient.
How do you create an admin interface that is convenient for the client and for yourself? What do you like, what are you up to?

category tree + text search by name for the selected category and its subcategories (+ for all).
You can hardly think of anything better than a search to find a specific article, the only question here is the correct filters that are necessary for the search.
