The laptop does not see the hard drive from the adapter?
I recently bought a SATA TO USB adapter. Before that, I had a hard drive, it was in another laptop. Now I'm trying to connect a hard drive, but I'm getting nothing in response. When trying to initialize - gives a greedy CRC error. What can help?

little information,
but finally see that there is enough power for the disk
Another laptop, another adapter, another screw, after that it will be clear what is broken
I once had an adapter that only saw "small" disks (I don't remember how small - they were huge then). I will also add for the power supply to the disk - it was also.
I had the same story when I bought a used laptop with loose ports. Half of them did not work or saw devices with constant interruptions. I had to choose a high-quality SATA to USB adapter from Samsung to connect the ssd. The adapter has been serving for two years now, so far everything is ok. Although the problem itself could be solved much easier - just by sending the laptop for repair to replace all usb ports) But diagnostics + replacement in St. Petersburg would cost me several thousand, but nafik is it needed if the laptop has a red price of 10k?)
