The idea of a design gallery with elements of a social network: what do you think?
For quite a long time, the idea of creating a design gallery on the Internet with elements of a social network has been spinning in my head. The main idea at the initial stage of the project is as follows.
The gallery consists of four sections: logos, corporate identities, websites and graphic design (or, for example, everything that is not included in the first three sections). Any novice or experienced designer (without registration or from their profile) can submit their work to this gallery, after which it undergoes preliminary moderation (for example, the absence of pornography, etc.). An important point is that when sending the work, the designer must indicate its goals, meaning, and also justify his decision. Further, this work falls into the appropriate category on the site and awaits expert evaluation. Experts are people who have experience in various areas of design - for example, art directors and heads of well-known design studios or experienced freelancers. Evaluation of the work will be carried out according to certain criteria or mini-surveys with yes / no answers. The site will have ratings,
In your opinion, does it make sense to develop such a resource and how useful it will be for all of us? If we have similar analogues, please share.
Partial functionality is described by me on StartupPoint (with an emphasis on web design). Examples of Western counterparts (but lacking peer review) are the LogoMoose logo gallery , the Minimal Sites gallery of minimalist sites , and many of the resources from the Google Inspiration Gallery search.

I immediately remembered the Russian-language analogue - www.photosight.ru (only there are pictures), there are also a lot of foreign ones (www.deviantart.com, www.worth1000.com ).
As I understand it, the emphasis is on "experts" - directors, managers ... I doubt that they will participate in this without significant motivation. Most likely, it will turn out just another specialized platform for designers.
To be honest, I would be pleased to see a social network for designers, but like a habr. Where not only the member is developed, but also a lot of content for self-development. Of course, there are many respected people on Habré, and I'm sure that there are those respected people who have become such and gained fame thanks to Habré.
If you think about monetization last, then whatever you say, there must be a community, there must be autonomy of the resource. If it is really of high quality, then selling advertising from it can be relatively effective.
But it seems to me that the established designers will not be interested in the members, and they will sell their lessons or their work elsewhere.

Until you try, you won't know. In my opinion, you need to score on the details, make a MINIMUM working version as soon as possible, put it to the public, and then it will be clear in which direction to move and whether it is necessary at all.
at the expense of monetization (obviously the answer to the first comment): Neither Google nor Facebook were in a hurry with monetization, and only benefited a hundred times from this. Therefore, we are thinking about monetization, but not in the first place.
I would put the question in a slightly different plane: how to attract very busy and well-known people - experts, to the assessment of some beginner design projects ?? Pay them?
It is unlikely that an established and respected specialist will work for imaginary ratings and other points. I would dance from this side. It's like a job search site. No job offers - no visitors. No Visitors - No job offers will be received.
As for the resource, since there are no Russian-language analogues, then there is not a bad chance that the project will take root in Runet. Go ahead - you have every chance to make the project successful.
