Yes, judging by the SMART readings, you need to make a backup and treat the disk with extreme caution - it can fail very soon. The good news is that it's not sudden.

The hard drive is making strange noises.

This usually happens when writing many small files.
What to do?

Find the program that pulls the hard drive. Most often it is:
1. Logging of any program.
2. Constant cache flushing by the browser on the hard drive.
3. Indexing files by the operating system for their subsequent search in Win if my memory serves me, this system utility is called SuperFetch. Typically, this symptom occurs when a lot of new (and small) files appear on the hard drive.
At one time, when working under Linux, my hard drive constantly pulled chromium - "cr.. cr.. cr.. cr.. cr.." which took out the brain for hours. Decided by switching to Firefox.
In general, I advise you to start by looking for a program that constantly pulls the hard drive. In Win 10, AnvirTask does a good job with this task.

And we have to guess what sounds? I would shoot at least on video ... And in general, such sounds do not always say that death is coming soon. My friend and I had the same problem on different railways, they couldn’t stupidly install Windows on a working hard drive, and it made strange sounds, a coup helped (but not sharp). Then the problems went away, and the railway works to this day. Apparently the problem was some kind of overheating, because both were not in the case, but simply on the surface with the board down ... But make a backup of important files anyway!

In any incomprehensible situation, make backups !!!

On MHDD.ru there were examples of sounds with comments - what they mean. From normal mode to an unrecoverable corpse. It also depends on the make/model.

The hard drive is making strange noises. What to do?

In most cases, you need to stop any attempts to do anything with the disk yourself.
If you are not mistaken and do not mistake, for example, thermal calibration for a breakdown, then the extraneous sounds of a hard drive most often mean a physical malfunction, the probability of coping with which at home tends to zero. But the probability of finally finishing off the disk, making recovery impossible - on the contrary, is quite noticeable.
At the same time, as a doctor listens to a patient, you can also, based on unusual noise from the HDA, roughly estimate what happened and estimate the likelihood of data recovery. Here is an article (with examples) about what hard drive sounds (grinding, clicking, knocking, squeaking) mean .
Returning to where I started, I will add that various software for diagnosing disks is, of course, good. If, like the author, the drive is visible in the system and the data is displayed on it, then you can quickly look at SMART. If the parameters are normal, then it is possible that it makes sense to try to copy the most important.
In the case when the disk is not visible, or copying freezes, then by far the best option would be to disconnect the disk and take it to a data recovery company for diagnostics. In adequate diagnostics is free and does not oblige you to anything.
Attempts to use various home software usually do not lead to anything, but only increase the likelihood that even a specialist will either not be able to help at all, or will be forced to quote a price that will not please you at all.
