No, this is not a program, and it has nothing to do with it, the speed of reading the record has simply fallen sharply. Half a year ago, when I was using a laptop, it started to slow down fiercely, changing Windows did not help, I bought an ssd, everything is fine, only this hard one I installed next to it with a second disk, it still slowed down.

If this is disk damage, then see the operating system logs. Each such failure will be recorded there. Just read.
If this is still not a disk, but a file system, then cleaning up unnecessary files and testing helps.
If this is a virus in the OS, then antiviruses or OS relocation help.

Guessing is not our method, you have to look through what's wrong with it, maybe it's wasps and not the disk itself.

The hard drive from the laptop began to slow down fiercely, but does not die.
On what basis is this asserted? Was the disk checked by Victoria or MHDD?
In my practice, this happened when the disk was just starting to die - some sectors from the 5 or 20 ms access time category (under the designation "Victoria") went into the 200 or even 600 ms category. If such a sector contains frequently requested information - here's the brakes for you. Be prepared for a complete failure - make a backup while it reads at least like this.

Brakes on hard are normal, especially if it is a system one, and, moreover, a laptop one.
