The difference is in the frequency range they pass.
WiFi antennas pass 2.3-2.4 GHz, WiMAX's - 2.5-2.7 GHz.
There are antennas that pass a wide range, including both WiFi and WiMAX frequencies, but they usually do not work well.
According to the experience of use - some kind of WiFi antenna worked with a WiMAX modem, but only in about one case out of three. The fact is that during the connection to the modem, a frequency range is allocated. If this range is at the beginning of WiMAX, this antenna worked, if at least in the middle, everything was only worse from it.
