The beginning of the way. How to get an internship?

Good afternoon.

Given:
- I've been having fun with Java SE for more than half a year, now I'm finishing learning the basics of SQL, Hibernate and Spring - there is a catastrophic lack of practical experience, I try to disassemble the theory piece by piece;
- I do not have a specialized IT education
- I have 2 towers - economics and construction
- good work experience in engineering positions of various kinds, as well as in project management
- I am less than 30 years old

I want to:
- get a job as a Java developer or an internship in this area, ready work without pay as part of an internship 1-2-...3? month.

Question: how and where to look for a suitable employer , as well as how to increase your chances of being selected ?

I have already checked simple responses to XX - there are few vacancies, there are many applicants - the last time there were 300 applicants for 2 junior positions with me ...
I would very much like to get a transparent answer without vague wording "do something and go aimlessly" )

You just need to be the best, which in itself is not easy.

This is not enough. I don't think you can compete well.
I don't have an IT background

If these are not pieces of paper, and you are really a good specialist, this is a huge plus.
good experience

willing to work without pay

I don't think you'll be in demand.

All you need is to be better than these 300.
What city is it?

@Aleksandr-JS-Developer

practical experience is sorely lacking

So make programs. Curves, oblique, but do it.
Just make useful programs. You have "experience in engineering positions ...", that's great! Surely you have in your workflow, for example, numbers that are inconvenient or long to count. Write a program to automatically count such numbers. Such a program can be inserted into a resume, because, although it is small, it solves business problems. (Don't forget to design it so you won't be embarrassed to show it.) The
location where you stay is also very important. For example, in a small town you have <0 chances.
Don’t build hopes for remote work either - no one will take a junior (and even more so a trainee) for remote work.
In any case, courses will do just fine to improve your knowledge for an internship. Best of all offline, that is, in a classroom with a live teacher. During the course, you will be able to write a couple of applications, so that you have something to insert into your resume.

A lot depends on the location - usually the more potential employers, the easier it is to find an internship / first job, and the most employers are in large cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, etc. in descending order).

Well nichrome will not. Think about it, it would be possible to get a job in a real profession with so many skills? A little bit I know how to build houses, I learned to design.
Your only option if you really want to change everything drastically - scatter your resume in tons, change it, but in the end there will be those who will invite.
