Unison - syncs laptop with Ubuntu and desktop with OS X Lion without any problems. It works because of the same principle as the famous rsync.
But if you use Windows, there is probably something even simpler there ... I chose a cross-platform solution. It’s even better to deal with rsync right away (there is a GUI for it ), since Unison is no longer being developed ...

Before dropbox (I didn’t quite understand why not to offer it), I used GoodSync .
Microsoft's free alternative is SyncToy .

Of those listed at the link above, I personally used (in addition to DropBox) SugarSync - it's convenient that it is supported by many platforms. I advise.
