SypexGeo vs IpGeoBase vs Something else that is better in terms of data relevance for RU as of 2016?
And again about geo-ip ... because. the expiration dates of the latest discussions on this topic are beginning to expire. So ...
As of now (end of 2016) - which of the services is leading in terms of database completeness?
Region - the accuracy of the definition plays a role only for Russia, abroad - it is enough to get into the country.
Price tag - let's limit ourselves to free ones only;
The task is a typical usability for an online store (guess where the client is, right away in the header we show the most successful delivery options, well, at the design stage too).
What you need:
- a directory of cities / regions - uploaded to your database (including for autocomplete to work when filling out a form);
- a directory of ip-pools - ideally also with the possibility of local storage (for reasons of speed), but if it's much cooler than all the others - you can also remotely.
While I screwed up ipgeobase
, everything is simple, but there is a feeling that the service is abandoned, it lives on the machine insofar as ... I tested it at several addresses, there are errors ...
(a test on 5 addresses is nonsense, and it is not a fact that there will only be more errors in the end).
So I’m thinking now - is it worth bothering with moving to this service, or in total it will turn out to be about the same, only in profile? Well, in general, what is the trend for ip-geolocation now?
Thanks in advance.
