Switching to Chronium - are there any pitfalls?

Because of one do-it-yourself extension for Chrome, I was sitting on the dev version (so that it wouldn’t swear at every launch to “disable extensions” and “Disable extensions in developer mode”) - but today after the update, the bastards from the “not_quite_good corporation” became show this window in the dev version, and therefore I want to switch to Chronium.
Are there any pitfalls, is it possible to link a google account, how are you doing with auto-update, which version is better to download?

so worth it .. but anyway, every time you start chrome - a pop-up window!
