Why does Google Chrome reset cookies periodically?

Actually, that's the whole problem. Installed on Linux Mint 18.2 MATE. Periodically, approximately once a week, cookies are reset, and even with the browser turned on - that is, I can sit on the site, refresh the page and meet an offer to log into my account (and on other sites too). How can this be? Tell me please.
