Switch stacking: what to do if one element fails?

For general education: there is a rack with switches in a stack. What actions are taken when one of the switches fails? It doesn't matter Master or Slave.
1. Is the switch being replaced with a spare?
2. If there is no reserve, the failed switch is disconnected from the network and all its patch cords (lines) are switched to the existing 30% reserve?
3. In the absence of a spare switch and a supply of ports - a report to the authorities?

in general, these two points should be specified in the instructions for servicing failures or something similar. the configuration of other switches should allow for such a maneuver.
3. report, if there is a boss. if there is no boss - well, you understand ...
in general, this item should be specified in the job description or something like that. if the authorities expect reports from you, they usually inform you in advance about this.
