Can I somehow disable the property of Windows hellishly swap everything?
tired of waiting for seconds until the minimized software is loaded from the hard drive

You can turn off the swap in the system settings, but if the operatives are not enough, this will not help. Your best bet is to buy an SSD.

Swap on Windows should not be disabled. On 7 it works great. Windows and Linux have a different approach to swapping. Consider simplified if you have two applications, 1 and 2 and 8 gig frame. Suppose all the memory is occupied and each application has eaten 4 gigabytes (we will neglect the consumption of the system itself here, it does not matter). So you are working in application 1, and 2 is minimized. Linux won't swap, but Windows will. Windows will swap application 2, but leave it in memory. If the parity in memory usage is maintained, then this is how it will work. But if application 1 at the time of your work suddenly wants memory, then Windows will immediately free the memory of the second (it is already in the swap) and give it to the first. Linukh would only at this moment begin to enter the second into the swap. So the fact that Windows uses swap is normal. Make yourself a 16 gig frame and buy an SSD, don't touch the swap settings. I have 4 gigs of DDR2 and SSD, C2D E8400, and this is based on the total responsiveness of the system and applications that fit into memory faster than my brother's gaming computer with i5 + 16GB DDR2 + HDD. Well, if you are actively using the disk, then the swap should not be on the physical disk on which the processed data is located.

No SSD, 4Gb RAM, not a particularly productive processor. Nothing slows down, I'm not even sure that something is swapping at all. Most likely your problem is something else.

for 18+ MPx photos, buy an SSD and you will be pleasantly surprised by the speed of loading and saving files (fresh owner of OCZ 60GB SSD) :)
but I don’t know what to advise you with a swap. I first turned it off completely (according to numerous tips from the net). then I decided to create a swap on the second disk (WD black edition). very noticeable difference in speed. had to be removed. but if you do not have enough RAM, then you must do a swap.
