Subtitle problem: space after each letter

Gentlemen, please help me to solve the problem. When I watch a video, in some Russian subtitles there is a space after each character. This makes it difficult to read. OsX system, VLC player.

I changed the encoding of the subs to UTF-8. I looked in the player settings. But the cause of the problem and the solution are unknown to me.

VLC - Preferences - Subtitles & OSD - Display Settings font is configured here.

These are not spaces, but the width allocated for characters - a cant with a font, somewhere in the bug tracker there was even a ticket on this topic.
