Studying in the IT field?

Often pops up advertising about studying for a java programmer, an information security specialist. So who can advise good courses in the field of IT technologies.
At the moment, I have a minimum of knowledge, I watched a couple of online seminars about javascript programming, I also know how to install linux. Now I decided to master Kali, I even bought the book "Kali Linux from developers"
I want to change my occupation, because I simply degrade at my job.

Kali Linux is a specialized distribution of cybersecurity chic, yes. But it's just a set of tools, and it doesn't include the "Kill" button. Having a Kali doesn't make you an expert, just like having an expensive set of tools doesn't make you an auto mechanic :)

Well, I would not even advise looking towards paid courses. Just for starters, decide in which direction you want to develop, do you want to make websites, mobile applications, etc. Then start small) There are many courses on YouTube, I used to watch loftblog.

I disagree with Evgeny Nikolaev about paid courses. There are always good ones, but you have to be able to choose, and this comes with experience, you can get any information on your own. What you need to understand to enter IT:

  • You should like it - if you don’t like it, it won’t go well, and you can’t hide it at interviews
  • English gives a very big boost. There is much less good information in Russian, even in 2019, and our compatriots love to wring tens of thousands of rubles for free knowledge
  • IT is very big - Kali is not something to look at first. Choose an area and start little by little, in small steps. If you want this notorious Kali, then at least get comfortable in Linux in principle
  • All or almost all IT people need to know programming. The language is very dependent on the direction. If you are looking at security, then I can advise Python. It is actively used in automation, data and security issues.
