Strong differences in Sensor.TYPE_LINEAR_ACCELERATION on different phones. What is the reason?

The application is installed on two phones (galaxy nexus and galaxy note 5), the application reads data from the accelerometer (TYPE_LINEAR_ACCELERATION) and displays the maximum value for a certain period of time on the screen. The problem is that the galaxy note 5 displays a value 3-4 times larger (under approximately the same conditions, i.e. there should not be such a huge difference).
What could be causing this?
