There is an old laptop HP Omnibook xt6200 (P-IV-M, 1.7Gb, 256 ddr, Hdd 20Gb 4200rpm 2.5"). It served faithfully, never let me down. Worn, shabby, but still in working condition (only battery
recently finally died) . is it worth buying, what brand and where is it better to buy? Maybe there are some other nuances ...
The volume up to 32-64Gb is quite satisfactory.
PS I would like to hear feedback from Khabrovites who had experience in buying or using it.

Maybe a CF -> IDE adapter with a CF card is better? I think it will be cheaper.

Something seems to me that the biggest problem is to find an SSD with a PATA interface. Because, in my opinion, they were never released.
I will support the comments above, I just want to increase productivity:
two 1GB modules (for example forum3.ru/descr.aspx?code=29442 ) ~ 3000 Rubles.
hard drive is also somewhere around 3000 rubles.
And an SSD… unless you take forum3.ru/descr.aspx?code=83281 and stir up a SATA->IDE adapter, and it’s not a fact that it will fit in the compartment, plus the price is almost 9000 rubles…

I do not think that the topic will turn out.
The main problem is in the memory, the old memory is difficult to find and it costs an order of magnitude more than the modern one.
HDD buy 5400rpm, 250-320Gb (for a smaller size they say less performance). On an old processor / platform, it is hardly possible to achieve a noticeable increase in performance on an SSD, and besides, they cost 2 times more than SATA ones.
Together, even total 512Mb RAM + 5400rpm will give a comfortable performance.
Platforms are becoming obsolete: even on a fairly new Core2Duo, performance is not the same as on i3 + DDR3, although I tuned it with memory and a 7200rpm disk.

I don't see much point in upgrading such a piece of hardware, SSD will cost > $100. The most logical thing would be to put just a modern screw on 2.5 IDE is cheap, and you will already notice the difference compared to the old 20'koy
