Squares and squiggles in the text of a Word file, what to do?

I read several topics, watched a couple of videos, tried to change the encoding (the font also does not help), nothing happened.
After 2 days, the project is protected, but the file does not open for me.

Go to Word Options and find the path to the autosave directory there. In Explorer, open this directory, it will most likely contain many files with the tmp extension, possibly others. Sort by date modified and open word by turn. And the disk where you saved the document would not hurt to check for errors, and the system for viruses ...
