[solved] in new TextMate (TM2) are some UI elements not showing up?

in the new TextMate (TM2) some interface elements are not displayed:

example in TM1

example in TM2
on the official IRC channel it was advised to clear the cache (ATS) and check if it works under another user.
clearing the cache with a reboot did not give anything, but from under another user everything worked fine.
Advise how to diagnose the problem and determine what kind of settings need to be reset?
