site monetization
Hello. I want to read / watch / listen to how sites earn. Everything is clear with online stores, but it is not completely clear how everyone else earns. For example, my friend has a website on automotive topics, 3-4k unique visitors per day, but there is almost no profit from contextual advertising, they have no other ways to monetize. It would also be very interesting to know about good sites, but which do not bring any profit, preferably with an analysis of the details - why they do not, how you can make a profit, and so on.
Of course, the easiest way would be to turn to Google, but sorry, the SOEs have dirtied everything with second-rate content.
Thank you.

If your friend has a popular website about cars, then he can start making money if he starts posting custom articles from automakers on it. In the same way, any site dedicated to any topic can bring money. Look at the same Habré blogs of various companies.
if there are 3-4k target audience that is potentially interesting:
- auto
sellers - spare parts sellers
- one hundred
- auto insurance, etc.
let "your friend" make the corresponding sections and monetize them if the current sections (you did not mention which ones) do not generate income.
Although I do not believe that nothing can be squeezed out of 3-4 visitors. Maybe there 's shit bad traffic?
And without seeing the site at all - blah blah.
You can do the same advertising, but work directly with manufacturers. Or through advertising intermediaries like cj.com, linkshare.com, etc.
They usually have a higher payout percentage than a general advertising provider like Google. Yes, and there will be more on the topic.
Of course, a funny way for our mentality, but still - donat? If the resource is useful to someone, then maybe they will be able to support the resource. How to say "What the hell is not joking"
I on the site with 3-4 thousand visits received income in the region of 17-20k per month from 2 exchanges of links.
titz was 40-50 content is not unique ...
Link exchanges are perhaps the only way to monetize a site. Everything else is monetization of the site audience (including contextual advertising). It is worth looking at from this angle, what kind of audience is on your site and what is interesting to them.
