Silent video card for programmer..

… very much needed. Absolutely and irrevocably lagged behind the marketing orgy that is happening in the hardware market, so I appeal to the collective mind.

What you need: a quiet and reliable PCI-E video card with support for two monitors on its side and with its full and trouble-free support on the part of Windows 7 / Server 2008. I don’t plan any special games, so nothing extraordinary is required.

Thanks in advance.

I've had a GeForce 8600 GTS with a passive for 2 years already www.overclockers.ru/images/news/2007/04/18/giga_01.jpg
+ doesn't make any noise at all
- it occupies 2 slots I'm
happy with the card, I don't even really
know how much it costs now, but then It cost about 120 bucks, now it can be cheaper, but you look at the money.

IMHO, 8600 is a little expensive if it’s purely for programming ... you can take 7600 silent - it was like that, it doesn’t heat up much, if necessary, you can buy a mini-cooler for $ 5 Titanium at the nearest radio market, which doesn’t make any noise ... now I just put such a bundle in my dad’s mini -itx body…

You are interested in, for example, ASUS ASUS EAH4350 SILENT - passive cooling, everything is fine with drivers, it costs $ 40.

Here and here . The first is CUDA compatible, the second is physically smaller. Linux shouldn't be a problem.

I use Palit GeForce GT 240, it makes less noise than any hard drive.
