How to test a RAM slot?
Hello.
I have two RAM slots on my motherboard. If you insert the bar into one slot (closest to the processor), then the computer simply does not turn on. If in another, then everything works fine.
But, the most interesting thing is that if you insert memory into both slots, then the computer works and shows memory in both slots. It is also determined by programs such as CPU-Z.
Why can this happen and how to check / test memory slots? If they are both working, then why does the computer not turn on when one of the slots is used separately?

Memory must be inserted into the slots sequentially, and not into the one that is closer to the processor. I have, here, the closest, not the first, but the fourth! Well, there should be a marking on the board, in ovals in the figure. I just have it in the first and second slots. So we take the description for the motherboard and look at the location of the slots.

How to test a RAM slot?
To begin with, I would do the following:
1. Try to reset the BIOS to default settings (the wrong frequency or timings may have been set)
2. Check both sticks separately with memtest
3. Carefully inspect the motherboard and memory for conspicuous damage
4 View lists of tested RAM for your motherboard from the manufacturer
