Should I place the blog of the online store on a subdomain or on a separate one?

There is an online store. As part of this project, it is also planned to make a blog. Question... From an SEO point of view, where is it better to place a blog: on a store subdomain or is it better to separate it into a separate project on a separate domain?
Online shop is very young, so there is no trust. The essence of the blog is to attract additional traffic to the store.

It all depends on the promotion strategy, if you want to somehow increase the weight of the store in the eyes of search engines by adding unique content, then of course a subsection.
If a blog is a marketing tool and its task is to get good positions in search engines and lead the user to the store through links, then on a subdomain or on a separate domain. Since a single blog will get better positions than a store with a bunch of the same type of pages.
It is difficult to unambiguously determine which is better without understanding what kind of store. If there aren't many products, then a blog within the store could add content to the product pages. If there are 100k products, then it is clear that all products will not receive a separate article, and then it makes sense to think about a separate site for them. In any case, there can be no unequivocal answer without a subject for discussion.

If you have a large store and / or do not have the technical ability to implement on the same domain, if it is possible to invest a lot of resources in blog promotion or you do not plan to promote it through search engines at all, then it is better to do a subdomain.
With a 1- subdomain
, you will give the search engine a more accurate definition of which site is a commercial online store, and which informational blog
2- links from the blog to the store will be considered as external links, which will certainly give the store more weight for development.
All major stores have a blog on a separate subdomain.
for example: https://blog.wildberries.ru
If you have a small store, it is best to do it on the same domain, if it is feasible in your case from a technical point of view.
The advantage is that the blog will immediately receive the weight of the site and it will be easier to promote it in the search.

You need to understand that from the point of view of search engines - a separate subdomain is generally a separate site. If the main site is already old and has positions, then the answer is unequivocal - in the subdirectory of the site.
In general, the design stage in terms of SEO is the place where most of the most expensive and difficult jambs are made by people. That is why you have to be extremely responsible.

The guys have already written the difference between creating a blog on the main domain and a subdomain. The only thing I want to add is that a blog on a subdomain is still functionally more suitable for writing articles. The exception is WordPress, where even online stores can have a full-fledged blog inside the main domain.

Interest Ask. There are examples here. https://www.babyblog.ru/ is a social network where content is well indexed. But in the end, the content is smeared with content. Nothing definite can be found. For example, if you have a clear site for the provision of services, and you want to blog, then no matter what one conflicts with the other, you put the blog on a subdomain. In fact, these are two different strategies. Get traffic on SEO and get traffic on BRAND.
On the main domain, you tell about the network, team, company news, release news, where to say, team and contacts. In your case, if the content intersects with the ideology of a startup, then you can leave it on the folder. But only when your content no longer intersects in any way (for example, writers got a taste and began to write about everything, for examplehttps://journal.tinkoff.ru/ or https://blog.ingate.ru/ , i.e. you already need to transfer it to a subdomain. There is a possibility that the content does not always convert well in this case, unlike landing or thematic pages.

The rule is simple : if the content matches the site, then leave it on the main domain. If the content is motley, then take it to a subdomain.
