Setting the default mail client?

Previously, when clicking on the mailbox address, my main mail was always opened and immediately with the form for sending a letter (mail.ru). Moreover, it doesn’t matter where the click on the mail address was, and in any program, and in any browser.
Now outlook opens, then windows live. Terribly annoying. Quite satisfied with the option in the browser.
How to return the previous version?

What axis? On Windows 7
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Mappings
At the very bottom of the list will be mailto with the default client selection
On Linux, the answer is somewhere among those

Control Panel -> Default Programs -> select the desired programs for working with mail.
