Remote work as a system administrator. How relevant in 2017?
Good afternoon, for almost 10 years I have been working as a system administrator. Changed 4 companies on the rise. Now the administrator of the trading company - 700 users, about 100 tsisok, 45 servers, VMWARE + SAN. A lot of Linux, there are Windows of all stripes. Along the way, for the 5th year I have been running a web studio with five servers and a project with 50,000 visitors per day. I am a confident Linux administrator, I know networks, I do a little programming in PHP, Python, C#.
But the problem is that I'm tired of this corporate idiocy, F **** inadequate bosses who are fired after a year, corporate policies, regulations, orders, etc. Everywhere is the same.
I want to deal only with IT, administer cool projects, work, earn money. But the problem is that in my city this simply does not exist. Now my salary is 50 thousand and this is the ceiling for the region. Near Moscow - there is a lot of work, but moving is impossible, because. there is no point. After renting an apartment, the same will remain.
There is an idea to JOIN 2-3 companies to work remotely, even if you get a little more or even the same amount, but work and do what you like and get away from a stupid corporate party.
About me: I am responsible, sociable, always in touch, I solve problems quickly, I am not stupid, I rush to problems like a shark on a piece of meat. Ready to rent a small office and work in it, and at least hang a webcam online there ...
And now the questions:
1) Which companies are interested in this?
2) To what extent can we count on long-term cooperation?
3) Are there any crooks in this thread now?
4) How to present yourself
5) Do you strive for official employment?
Thank you!

I recommend migrating to what is now called "DevOps engineers", there are a lot of vacancies for remote work, they pay well.
Get to Moscow.
It costs noticeably more than 50k + money for an apartment.
In general, you can try to develop this "programming a little" in yourself and try to get into this hype for developers.
And now the questions:
1) Which companies are interested in this?
What is this"? Remote admin, to whom are you not the only employer? None in particular. Small ones need someone on the spot, and it will cost no less than you at a distance. Large - the body should still be.
2) To what extent can we count on long-term cooperation?
I want to deal only with IT, administer cool projects, workThis is for you in a large company - as a rule, no remote work, only office work.
1) What companies are interested in it?As a rule, those who do not have money for an employee in the office, with all the ensuing consequences, although there are rare exceptions.
To what extent can we count on long-term cooperation? So are you talking about cooperation, or about working for a company?
3) Are there any crooks in this thread now?Completely, as in other topics.
5) Do you seek formal employment? If you work as an employee, then it’s not something that you need to strive for, but it’s simply the only possible option in which it’s generally worth going to work.
I see strange comments above. Even funny. At a distance, an enikey worker is not needed and uninteresting. For someone needs to change the cartridges and calm down the booms. For about 3 years, I have been managing loaded projects remotely. Not freelancing, but without official employment. I don't experience any inconvenience. If you need officialdom - you make an individual entrepreneur and provide services to the company. It's simple. Look IT offices, there are few classic users
new,
almost everyone wants long-term cooperation,
well, what kind of swindlers are there, you either get paid or not,
as a hell of a professional
, this is a question for you and not for us
If you really understand everything you write about, then your salary does not correspond to the level of competence at all. Here, either you know very superficially what you are writing about, or you do not value yourself. And given your words - "Moscow is nearby, it makes no sense", I will probably lean towards the first one, because. it reflects your way of thinking.
So what's the problem to improve knowledge and get a job as a web administrator? Administer a web server? The demand is there, and it is unlikely to fade away. In the future - to get a job remotely in the help desk of a hosting company, and then there are already free bread with a full hand, and own initiatives are possible.
IMHO the remote administrator is not interesting to anyone. It will be difficult to find. It's not a programmer.
You can only get a job administering cloud servers of offices, and then they will prefer a living person, because there are many admins, and other things being equal, it makes sense to take a remote worker.
