Relay or semistor for power load control?

Greetings!
The simplest control of a powerful load from a microcontroller is required.
There are no problems with low-power circuits, but for the first time the question arose about a real powerful load . It
is required to control a 1.5 kW compressor (i.e. motor)
What will be better in terms of reliability - a relay or a sevenistor?
Also, will the sevenistor die from the motor?
In theory, there will be strong interference from the relay (maybe sticking of the contacts), and a sevenistor (for example, bt139) for such a power will require a radiator of 10 centimeters ...
