Recursion in script for Photoshop?

There is a script - processes layers in Photoshop.
Iterates over each and collects the required data (width, height, position).
Example of a script
At the output we have a file of any type and format - in our case PLIST
There is a need to nest dictionaries.
The solution seems to be this - to process groups and drive nested layers to the right place in these groups.
An example of extracting group metadata can be viewed here (not quite right - but the script runs only in groups)
Question : how to recursively run through an Adobe document and extract data?
Ideally, I would like to see the position of the inner rails relative to the parent element (group)
