Recommend a serious WiFi router

The brains are already swollen from the choice, so the opinion of the community is of interest (especially those who have such pieces of iron).
Requirements:

  1. gigabit ports. Preferably more or less normal, capable of withstanding 700-800 Mbps between themselves.
  2. WiFi N. Preferably 2-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz), but not particularly critical. The ability to mount external antennas is a plus.
  3. Ability to install third-party firmware (OpenWRT, Tomato, etc.). For OpenVPN, 3g modem, the ability to organize 2 WAN interfaces with failover, etc.
  4. USB. Actually, 1 piece is enough for a 3g modem. Printers, external hard drives, rocking chairs are handled by another piece of hardware (Synology DiskStation).
  5. Sufficiently powerful processor, WAN-LAN and WLAN-LAN data transmission performance is of interest. Well, of course, so that there are no problems with IGMP (IPTV).
  6. Not D-Link. I'm tired of them with their glitches :)
  7. And last, but perhaps most importantly, the stability of the work. Once set up and forgotten for a couple of years.

Budget - $200. Can be increased if necessary.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

When I bought it, I settled on these:
NetGear WNR3500L
ASUS RT-N16 I settled
on NetGear+TomatoUSB. I didn’t sag, I didn’t hang, the uptime was a maximum of 36 days, the electricity was cut off. Asus, judging by the reviews, is also trouble-free.
Read the reviews on the market, both pieces of iron are good. But about 700-800 Mbps there are doubts whether a home piece of iron can squeeze out such a speed ...

TPLINK TP-WR1043ND on DD-WRT

Linksys WRT610N
Works stably, all 7 points, with the possible exception of poor reception through walls (due to the built-in antenna inside the case), that is, it will catch accurately in the apartment, but further - depending on the obstacles. Through 2 walls, the signal strength already fluctuates from 3 to 5 sticks.
At the moment, it has been working for 8 months without reboots, it has never hung up.
There is a firmware from dd-wrt (I didn’t use it myself), the boss sewed it with different firmware, some of them extinguished the device, but the recovery functions always worked without problems (for which I called it indestructible)
There is no IPTV and L2TP out of the box, if my memory serves me right, after the purchase I immediately flashed it on mirwifi.org/novosti/wrt610n-i-bilayn.html(2.05 Gold), it added support for IPTV and L2TP, there were no problems with the firmware, I used L2TP on the Beeline Internet. But I didn’t check the work of IPTV, unfortunately I can’t say anything here (
Almost a year ago I chose it between different models of Asus N-16, NetGear 3500 and 3700, D-Link DIR-825. I stopped my choice after reading reviews and reviews I didn’t regret it on Linksys. Before that, there was a Zyxel P330W, with which there were frequent problems - “wi-fi” fell off, so I took the choice very seriously.
If you have questions about the router, I will be happy to answer.

AirStation™ High Power N300 Wireless Router - WHR-HP-G300N , as well as its older brothers.
This router of a little-known Japanese company with an American name pleasantly surprised me, I even wanted to write a review about it. Pros:

  • OpenWRT firmware out of the box
  • $50 price on Amazon
  • Tiny dimensions compared to competitors
  • Very stable and strong signal, 2 external antennas
  • Doesn't get very hot
  • IMHO very stylish and nice design

RT-N16 not suitable? I've been using it for over a year now with no complaints. Yes, and it almost fits your requirements (no 5GHz).

I remembered that I always forget
Mikrotik and Ubiquiti. Look at off sites, mikc.ru is one of the dealers in Russia.

Today I was just puzzled by similar questions, though the needs were simpler.
After consulting with a friend-admin, I took linksys. The Linksys WRT610N, Linksys E3000, or Linksys E4200 (price/features ascending) should be fine for you.
Before that, there were 3 devices from asus, and, having no example for comparison, I was satisfied. But there were regular freezes (active torrents, a large number of connections, it seems that the hardware simply could not cope). Linxis, similar, is deprived of these problems. In the approach, you can feel the trends of tsiska, it's not in vain that this is a subsidiary company.

At least I personally have more confidence in it than D-Link.
There is no xWRT for it, but its NetFriend setup program knows about almost all fairly large RF providers and can set up a piece of iron in the form of a simple wizard.

AirPort Extreme Base Station.

AirPort Extreme, indeed. 2 frequencies. The power is very decent, and the speed - 100 Mbps over the air - the provider could not give more. Of course, there are not many settings, but to be honest, it's not a fact that it's bad.
PS: I have a Mikrotik 951ui. I like. But the speed is not what you are asking for.
ZY2: I would not dare to recommend Asus. They are somehow strange, when I go to the admin panel, I often see interface glitches - I don’t know what it says. Inadequacy, perhaps.
