Recommend a NAS server
Good evening!
I want to buy a replacement for the old Synology DS-101 . However, the requirements are specific.
It is mandatory that there is an embedded web server (Apache, or another), MySQL (fifth), php (also fifth), but ...
DS-101 has embed Linux, which does not give root even when busybox is installed, but for su (sudo no) lacks rights. Therefore, updating the system is almost impossible - you can only replace the firmware, but this is not what we would like.
And I would like to install modern php, mysql, perhaps nginx. I wanted to put MariaDB there - but even the directory cannot be renamed or created - there is no root.
Since the DS-101 has been around for many, many years, MySQL is sometimes buggy (it cuts itself out by accident, it may simply not start when it is turned on), I want something newer.
I want to ask the opinion of a respected habra community what can be purchased in an analogue for a home / small office? In a good way, a NAS with LAN root (not USB - there are many of us here) will do.

maybe they have models that fit your budget
I'm wildly sorry, for that kind of money you can assemble us yourself in a compact case on miniITX
And put any distribution kit of your choice on it.
What is the reason for buying a boxed NAS? Judging by the question, the answer option “messing is not hunting” is not very suitable.
Why not take Synology more modern?
For example DS110j or more powerful. You can install third-party software, and in extreme cases compile it yourself
Not really a NAS, but a more flexible solution - http://www.ixbt.com/storage/hp-microserver-p1.shtml
The only possible negative is the lack of RAID 5 support, but in terms of software - everything your heart desires
How about this ? I use a younger model, php and mysql are installed, though for sooooo small needs, no failures were noticed.
I took synology ds411j for 13k, on the last one the root is enabled by default via ssh, with a password from the admin. There are many manuals on how to install third-party software and the environment, it costs transmission, lftp, openvpn, there is a lot of other software from the repository, everything works, everything is spinning. If you are interested in the details - wellcome in a personal.
