Task Management
EgorKotkin, 2011-02-09 14:42:24

Recommend a good task manager for a remote team

Now we are using basecamp, but it does not suit us - there is not enough ability to create and observe nested tasks and related tasks. In general, the service is quite heavy, and the functionality is not enough.

It seemed to me that the timer did not have enough functionality. he is quite skinny.
although I also use it in one of the projects.
if you need something more serious - look at the megaplan.
Recently implemented, so far everyone likes it :)

And I just fell in love with fengoffice .
There are projects, tasks, subtasks, milestones, related objects, tags… time tracking…
And most importantly: you can use it either as SaaS or install it on your server for free.
Of the minuses: no integration with CVS and Gantt charts only as plugins.

Well, if the team is small, then for $10 you can buy Jira.

I use eventum (https://launchpad.net/eventum). Quite easy to install / configure, free license, good functionality.

We are using dotProject .
There is nesting of tasks, and connectivity, and a bunch of other things that we don't use. Free and open-source, the interface is simple and quite nice. Includes forum and file repository with version support.
