RAID hardware or software?

Greetings. In general, I collect a web server on which images will be processed. The load will be big. Mother micro with 2 sockets 2011 and built-in SATA hardware raid. 4 sata disks will work in raid 10 mode. I tend to use the built-in hardware raid more. But all the same, I decided to ask a question to knowledgeable people, suddenly I'm mistaken. Axis centos.

Depends on what you mean by software raid.
If we are talking about the so-called. fake raid - it's better to never use it, even a raid built purely in Windows behaves more predictably and transparently (and with about the same performance)
If we are talking about a software raid from the Storage Pool category, mdadm or a special solution, then these are good options, but they load percent.
A hardware raid is also a good solution, the main thing is to choose the right controller and its options.

This is such a holistic question, you can’t even imagine if it’s good with a battery (BBU) and various necessary goodies like caching on an SSD, then hardware, otherwise software.

It's better to never use built-in, it's better to live on predictable software

Raid on the motherboard is the worst thing in an accident. Better mdadm. Ideally, a controller with a battery.
And before making a decision, look at what will be straining when working on an image. It seems to me that the percentage will be loaded stronger than the disks. In theory.
