Question about external ip address?
I welcome everyone.
Faced the following problem:
There is an asus wl-500gp router with firmware code.google.com/p/wl500g/ it sticks out a 3g modem with a SIM card from a megaphone.
The problem is that the megaphone gives out an IP address like 172.22.178.x (visible in the router settings), checking its IP via the Internet gives 83.149.8.x.
The question is why Internet sites see ip 83.149.8.x and what is this address? Why is my external one not showing up?
I need all this to access the router from outside and for the no-ip.com service.
By the way, if I go to the address that the router displays (172.22.178.x), I get to the router!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_IP address The following ranges are defined
by
IANA
as addresses allocated to local networks
: 172.16.0.0/12 or 172.16/12),
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168.0.0/16 or 192.168/16).
Also, for loopback interfaces (not used for exchange between network nodes), the range 127.0.0.0 - 127.255.255.255 is reserved.
You are given not a “white”, but a “gray” address. You can't access it directly from the internet.
if you need a real address, then there is such a service, but I don’t know how a megaphone has connected such a service to MTS,
but in general, yes, you are given a gray address, and the gateway through which your gray one receives the Internet is 83.149.8.x
