Proper installation of gulp?

the problem is the following. gulp is installed globally on a poppy, but when I start a new project (the npm i command in the terminal), in the folder of which all the folders and files I need to start work are already collected, the node_modules folder is installed in this very project folder. and so every time. Can you please tell me if this can be fixed? I do not want to drag this folder from project to project.
