Question: how did you notify users about the launch of your project?
Let's say the site has a stub page with a field for entering an email address.
Did you do the mailing to the addresses left by users (on your own from your server)? Or did you use third party services? Are there any at all? What are the pros, cons?

If the task is simply to collect e-mail from potentially interested persons, in order to notify them about the launch later (and then send them project news, for example), then in my opinion it is optimal to use MailChimp .
