Good day, is it possible to somehow limit the download of files of certain extensions? I found here how to disable downloading, will this method help or are there any pitfalls? Thank you.

Partially it will help, where there will be correct extensions for urls
Where there will not be, but there will be content not through https, layer7-protocol and content filter will help, google mikrotik layer7-protocol

Only on unencrypted traffic through the L7 filter, but as I already noted, the L7 filter loads Mikrotik very heavily.
Encrypted traffic cannot be controlled in any way - only proxies with bumping.
