Guys, my name is Irina, I'm an interior designer, and I had a maniacal idea to create a program for textile designers. There is an analogue of 97 years))). I don’t understand these processes at all, I didn’t have to, to be honest, but I understand my business very well, there are unique schemes, tables and techniques that I want to apply in this program. It should be installed on a laptop on Windows, and then we'll see.

What I want to understand is what is needed to implement this kind of program, money, time. How difficult is it? What to look for when looking for specialists? I must say right away that I understand that this is not free)))

Search only live. No freelancers will pull (well, or very very expensive - salary pcs. 300,000 per month.). I speak as a person leading projects on freelance.
It will be cheaper to hire an office.
You need an experienced project manager. A person versed in technology, building a common architecture, understanding business processes. Basically a project manager. Regions - 200,000 months
Developers - 2-3 pieces. Regions - salary 50,000 - 100,000 months
To make it cheaper, you can have different levels and promise bonuses and positions after launch. Start recruiting from the strongest. the weak only later, when there is work for them.
Development time to the first minimum version is about 6 - 12 months.
You need to sell from the minimum version in order to receive feedback and make the product flexible.
Total development time 2+ years.
Payback - 3-4 years.
By that time there will be 4-5 sales people, 4-5 developers, an office manager, 1-2 technical support.
Do we count investments? Honestly, it’s too lazy to calculate everything thoroughly, taking into account office rent, equipment, taxes, etc.
Approximately - 50-100 million.

At a minimum, you need to describe what you want the program to do.
Indicate which competitors you know
. What do you like about existing products.
What you don't like about them.
This is described in a separate document. Usually it is called the word "brief".
And then it will be possible to discuss in more detail, and, based on the results, describe the basic technical task. Then it will be possible to estimate approximately the resources (time, money, performers).

I am deeply convinced that you need to develop a startup only in the area in which you understand yourself. And if a startup is at the intersection of several technologies - for example, interior design / programming, then you need to understand both.
I was in a gaming startup, the leaders of which did not understand game development - they only spent money, their own nerves and people who were hired. It didn't end well.
PS The option "and I'll hire someone who understands" - drop it right away, because. firstly, you will not be able to understand who really understands and who does not. And secondly, a person who understands will very quickly realize that his leadership does not understand anything, and he will be very tempted to hang noodles on management and get a personal profit. Met this as well.
And most importantly - really experienced developers will not join such a team. There is nothing worse than when you explain elementary things to the management: "You have SQL injections here, this is critical, you need to fix it," and they answer you - "What's wrong? It still works like that."
