I decided to install VirtualBox in order to "feel" Win 3.11, which did not work for me.
But I didn’t find a normal guide. I decided to install Ubuntu 16.04 Harm
, everything started fine, but then ... I
installed the VM on Win XP 32-Bit SP3 The
VM was allocated 512 MB of RAM

Try turning off "Enable Nested Paging" in VM settings (settings->system->acceleration)
