Problem with external hard drive

Western Digital WDME5000 hard drive. I connect it to the computer, the usb icon appears in the tray and the characteristic sound of windows indicates that the device is connected. On the hardest, the indicator lights up, but does not appear on my computer. I tried to look through the total, also nothing. Then, after 5 minutes, one of the hard disk partitions appeared. The indicator works as if information is being read from it. What is the problem?

It happens that there is a problem in the cord and the HDD does not have enough power. Try with different cords.

I have the same HDD. Met the same problem only for the two reasons mentioned above.

One to one was with a friend and also with WD. As a result, he simply formatted it, the info on it was not valuable. They also thought it was the cable, but it was not there.

Had a similar issue with a WD Passport external drive when using a non-native usb cable. A short usb cord came with the disk in the box, everything works fine with it. And when using longer cords, problems arose.
It's funny that short (maximum 20-30 cm) usb cords are not easy to find on sale.
If the native cord is lost, then try using a usb-hub so that the drive has enough power when using a long cord.

I took a double cord. All the same, one of the sections is not displayed. When I pull out the hdd, it suggests formatting that partition.

Yes. The same thing is on the stationary. One section opens, the other does not.

Look at the acronis from the BIOS - do you see it? If you see it, try to check for errors.

@leninson

Well, I meant to burn an acronis disk, boot from it and look at the disks.

I'll try to format now, unsubscribe later.
