Problem with DVD drive. Can a disc drive damage discs while burning?
Good afternoon. I recently purchased a used Xbox 360 with lt 3.0 drive firmware. I didn't have my own drive. A friend gave me his.
Recorded about 7 DVD-DL discs and all with errors. At first I thought about blanks, bought from another manufacturer. The result is the same, it throws errors during verification. Can the drive itself corrupt data during recording or not? And what can be done? The option to buy a new one is certainly being considered, it costs a penny. But I would like to understand what is the reason with the current drive. Burning software tried ImgBurn and CloneCD.

Are you sure you burned the discs correctly? At one time, for the playstation, it was necessary to do some manipulations. Burner verification or xbox verification?
In the second case, check the recorded data. For example, Nero Express allows you to check the data after writing. Write at the minimum speed / If the check is successful, then the problem is not in the disks and not the drive.
If verification after recording fails, then the problem may be in discs of an incompatible format (DVD, they are different ..) or the drive. Look at the disc markings (+r -r etc.) and check the drive's documentation for write compatibility. If it is old, there may be dust, corny. Or worn parts. Or you record on a shaker.
